Founder Dave Phillips started the business in July of 1986 as a commercial janitorial service after acquiring contracts from his retiring father-in-law. Naming the company after his 2 young daughters - Jamie & Jennifer.
After 12 years and ready for a change from the late nights of commercial janitorial work, Dave decided to buy his first truck-mounted carpet cleaning machine. He operated out of a small trailer he fashioned from a Costco trailer bed. As his business grew, he quickly realized that he needed a larger machine. Dave chose a large box van and began operating Juneau's largest truck-mounted machine.
In January 2003, J & J Cleaning shifted its full time services to focus on carpets by purchasing Jet Steam Carpet Cleaning. Dave worked to diversify by becoming certified in water restoration, mold remediation, and trauma/bio-hazard.
In the fall of 2013, Dave’s daughter Jennifer and son in law Aaron join the firm. Aaron as the lead carpet technician and Jennifer begins to run the day-to-day operations in the office.
When the pandemic hit, Aaron and Jennifer stepped into full-time managerial roles. Despite the challenges of those uncertain times, they worked hard to keep customers safe, and continue delivering quality service.
After 38 years in the cleaning business, Dave is steps back from full-time work as he transitions into retirement. Aaron and Jennifer officially purchased the company in July, carrying forward its values while bringing new energy, ideas, and a strong focus on community and service.
